Clinic Accomplishments:

Goose Creek takes pride in supporting the local community through various fund raising activities.   Through the generosity of our clients we won the Mutt Strut Vet Challenge in 2009 and 2010. Our clinic has raised  over $5,000.00 to support the local animal shelter.

  • Dr.Ruth Rountree

    Dr. Rountree has been a North Carolina girl her whole life.  She attended North Carolina State University for undergrad and veterinary school. After graduating, she worked for a clinic in Chesapeake, Virginia.  In November of 1998, Dr. Rountree opened Goose Creek Animal Hospital to provide veterinary services to her local community.

    Prior to vet school Dr. Rountree met her husband Scott, a Gates County native. The couple married in December 1995.  They were blessed with the birth of their son, Victor in 2004.

    Dr. Rountree spends her time away from the clinic with her family and their three dogs, Amber, Sportster and Koda.  The family enjoys spending time at the Outer Banks with family members and taking in a little fishing.
  • Brenda Hux

    Brenda has been assisting Dr. Rountree and her clients since July 2000.  She came to Goose Creek with nine years experience working in veterinary hospitals.   Her knowledge about various breeds, breeding and whelping brings an added service to our breeder clients.

    With 23 years breeding under the Cameo Golden Retriever Kennel name, Cameo has produced multiple breed champions, obedience titled dogs, working dogs, therapy dogs and beloved family companions.

    Brenda shares her life with her husband Bob, three children, five grandchildren,  three Greyhounds, four Golden Retrievers, two mixed breed dogs and two cats.   Her son, Michael, is serving in the Army with the 10th Special Forces Group.   In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with family and friends, cooking and attending dog shows. 
  • Heather Stevens

    Heather joined the staff of Goose Creek in 2008 as a veterinary assistant. With ten years experience in the field, her knowledge and expertise has proved to be a valuable asset to the Goose Creek team.

    Heather enjoys many activities on her days off, but her favorite is spending time with her husband Roger, their four children and of course the dogs.  The canine crew consists of five Mastiffs, one Boxer and a Boston Terrier.  But for those who know her, we realize that her true passion is working out and boxing.  Yes, that's right our girl Heather is a professional boxer, needless to say we don't give her a hard time.
  • Elmamarie Tatum

    Elma joined the staff of Goose Creek in 2008, her experience as a groomer and vet assistant make her a valuable member of the team.

    Elma received training to be a veterinary assistant by her family vet at the age of 16.  In 2006 Elma began her training as a groomer,  receiving her training from a professional with 35 years experience.   Elma provides grooming services to our clients on Tuesday and Wednesday.

    Elma enjoys many activities on her days off, but her favorite thing is spending time with her Pug, Humpty.
  • Corinne

    Corinne joined the Goose Creek family in July 2015.  She has worked as a receptionist for over 30 years. She started working in the veterinary field as a teenager where she remained for 25 years, then transitioned to human medicine.  After working in human medicine for 10 years Corinne has decided to return to her passion, working with animals.  

    During her free time Corinne enjoys spending time with her family, which include 3 children and 4 grandchildren.  Her hobbies include cooking, canning and antiquing.  She has 2 rescue Walker Hounds, 2 cats, a Pekingnese and several farm critters that she loves to spend time with.
